Intrigued **

What can I say? May be a lot. May be a little. I honestly did not expect to be reading about werewolves ripping off noses, therefore leading to unfortunate nose less offspring. Neither did I expect someone to find their lover in the escape to seek freedom and space for thought. Nor did I expect to be so intrigued!!! Ironically this is Medieval Romance.
In these stories, Life and love seems a little unreal because of circumstances and time Period. In the story of Bisclavret, it all started with a wife and a husband who shared love for each other. When the wife finds out that her husband is gone away for at least three nights out of the week to become a werewolf she basically forgets love even existed. I honestly get that he didn’t come forward and tell her about his other half of life, but she shouldn’t have betrayed him. Usually you think if your husband is out for some days that he may be having an affair or cheating but this wasn’t the case. It was simply random and pretty shocking to find out that your husband is indeed a werewolf.
What was pretty weird is that the wife didn’t even ask series of questions he would expect to be asked. Yeah your husband is a werewolf now and all you’re worried about is whether you’re going to sleep with him or not again. The other thing is how she plotted against him or made a plan to get rid of him. Where is the love in that? It seems unreal because if you love your husband he does the same for you then you would make an exception no matter the case.
When the wife basically banished her husband and goes for someone she had previously known, it was like it was too good to be true. Coming up on the king that realizes that Bisclavret has the mind of a human and human ways and they have a connection or sort of love was pretty weird and sweet at the same time.  It was kind of like it was needed toward him because his wife was cruel. The king and Bisclavret find to each other it’s like finding a different kind of love or different kind of bond and it could be broken. When his wife and soon to become  enemy show up he goes bananas. I totally understand!! He was betrayed, stuck in his other form because his wife was being selfish. At one point if felt pity for her but i think she got what she deserved. I don't think that her children should've have suffered from it though.
On the other hand Lanval I thought was a pretty intriguing. I couldn’t keep my eyes off each and every word. I am a hopeless romantic. I do you think in the society the punishments are weird as well as the rules or regulations for the lack of better words. How could someone with such a good heart, good intentions and a beautiful soul be treated with such miss fortune and in fairness by his heir.
I totally agree with separating yourself from the usual and going off trying to find yourself or find the thoughts in your mind that makes sense. While doing that finding and virtue and wanting that more than anything so you do whatever it takes to keep it.  I couldn’t imagine living in taking Garbage from someone who would flirt with someone other than their king/husband bash them when they are trying not to be disrespectful to you when their heart is somewhere else.  The trials and tribulations that he had to go through just so his lover can come rescue him wasn’t as bad as it seemed it was very tedious and hopeful at the same time because people believe in him and love.
In each of the stories of women are portrayed is very powerful and sometimes the roles of sex have an effect on everything. Proving love can go a far distance. The women or men will do the most out rages or the littlest things to prove something. The consequences on the other hand are also outrageous as well as the decisions made it is just mine blowing and unreal.
My personal take on how satisfying the stories are I go by my understanding of what is actually going on in the stories. These are very intriguing stories and I would love to continue to read books with twisted tales like this because it is very interesting and makes you question a lot of things.

  1. I agree, these stories are more interesting then anticipated! It was weird when she didn't ask certain questions to her werewolf husband...like how long has this happened to you (maybe he was cursed, rather than born with it)? Or, do you change only on these days or just when your clothes are off? The bromance between the king and werewolf was just cute >w<
